Can Tho to host flower garland, lantern festival

Can Tho to host flower garland, lantern festival

The annual event will include a flower garland contest, a light show and lantern release on the river, along with many booths promoting Can Tho tourism and cuisine. There will also be folk games, live traditional music and booths that sell artisan crafts.

Ninh Kieu Wharf, located on Hai Ba Trung Road, Tan An Ward is one of the most famous tourist destinations of the Mekong Delta city.

A new feature of this year’s festival is the light show that combines storytelling with modern sound and light effects on water. The first part of the show will feature myths and folklore about the origin of the country. The second part will honor the beauty and cultural identity of Can Tho residents, while the last part will portray the dynamic and modern feel of a developing city.

In addition to its light effects, the show will also incorporate many traditional songs. The main stage will be located on the embankment of Khai Luong Canal, though visitors can watch the show from the pedestrian bridge. This activity will take place from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both November 27 and 28.

In addition, the pedestrian bridge will be re-decorated with a new lighting system. Along Khai Luong Canal, a floating garden will be set up with over 200 types of flowers. On this occasion, local authorities will allow couples to attach their “love locks” to the bridge.

Can Tho, considered the heart of Mekong Delta – Vietnam’s rice basket, is well-known for its Cai Rang floating market, Ninh Kieu Wharf, picturesque rural canals, and abundant fruit gardens.
