Development of Vietnam’s digital tech industries
Doctors to provide medical consultation, examination and treatment remotely
Recently, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Ministry of Health launched a remote medical examination and treatment platform developed by Viettel, and the Bluezone application to help the community fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Many Vietnamese enterprises are responsible for these developments, including Memozone, VNPT, MobiFone and BKAV. Previously, VNPT also launched the online training solution VNPT E-Learning, which provides remote teaching and learning for all levels from primary school to university.
These products prove the increasing capacity of Vietnam’s digital technology to master state-of-the-art technology, design and manufacturing, and to create new services, solutions and business models.
Vietnam has made the development of local tech firms a top priority in order to move ahead with industrialization and fast and sustainable economic development. Vietnam has developed a network of strong telecommunications and information technology firms across the country, which can facilitate the digital transformation process in large-scale and important sectors.
According to Prime Ministerial Instruction 01/CT-TTg on promoting the development of digital technology enterprises in Vietnam, based on new digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, deep machine learning, big data, blockchain, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things, digital transformation is creating new development space – a digital economy, a digital society, and e-government. In particular, it opens up a great opportunity for Vietnam to catch up with developed countries, which have already started the transformation.
Based on the model of numerous developed countries, by 2030 Vietnam will need at least 100,000 digital businesses. To achieve the target, the PM asked ministers, and provincial and city leaders to focus on policies to create markets for digital enterprises. That includes start-ups related to e-government, digital transformation, smart cities and smart agriculture. Also in the pipeline is a fund for Vietnamese digital enterprises with private capital mobilization and plans to promote investment and trade, domestic consumption and export support for products, services, solutions and business models of digital enterprises.
The Covid-19 pandemic prompted some industries to hasten their transformation. In addition, the aspiration for a strong Vietnam, a market of nearly 100 million people with specific problems in various sectors such as industry, agriculture, transportation, health, education, finance, resources, and environment provides a favorable premise for Vietnam’s digital enterprises to grow and reach out to the world.
|The MIC called on the digital enterprise community to take advantage of the opportunity to provide more online platforms in order to build up Vietnam as one of the top countries in e-government development.|
