In his opening speech, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that in the context of the coronavirus outbreak, ITU Digital World 2020 is taking place online through a technology platform developed by Vietnamese companies. . He pointed out that virtual stores remove limitations on space and time while allowing for unique interactive experiences.
“Vietnam is a country with nearly 100 million inhabitants and an open and vibrant economy. In 2020 Vietnam is expected to experience positive growth, which is expected to reach more than 2%, ”said Vu Duc Dam, adding that the Vietnamese government considered the development of telecommunications infrastructure and information technology as one of the main priorities and saw digital transformation as an important solution for faster and more sustainable development.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Hanoi's commitment to support and promote cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its member countries to jointly build a digital world for peace, cooperation and prosperity.
According to Houlin Zhao, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Vietnam has become an important partner in many markets in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. This has made Vietnam a shining example in terms of information technology development for many developing countries.
Following the opening ceremony, a ministerial roundtable was held online to discuss the role of digital technologies during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
ITU Digital World 2020 takes place October 20-22. Under the theme "Building the digital world together", the event will include many activities to promote cooperation between nations in the digital age.
According to the organizers, the online exhibition will be a highlight of ITU Digital World 2020. The exhibition will feature national pavilions to showcase countries' achievements in digital transformation and nearly 200 virtual booths featuring 2D screens or 3D showing information on many products, services and solutions.
