Prime minister Phuc allows resumption of Vietnam – China flights
During a meeting with the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on weekend, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc announced to reopen international air routes to some regional countries.
Destinations PM Phuc suggested include Japan’s Tokyo, South Korea’s Seoul, China’s Guangzhou, Taipei in Taiwan (China), Vientiane in Laos and Phnom Penh of Cambodia.
In the latest announcement related to air route to China, the government let relevant agencies of the two countries to decide the frequency and conditions of passenger transportation. The date for the air route to be officially opened has not been announced in the statement.
Vietnam decided to resume international air routes gradually to meet the increasing demand of Vietnamese nationals who need to return home from abroad. Foreign investors, experts and foreign students also need to enter Vietnam, where the virus has been controlled in the country.
Beside, Prime Minister Phuc requested the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health in sending Vietnamese home and allow diplomats, experts, investors, skilled workers, foreign students to enter Vietnam.
Vietnam entered the 88th consecutive day without any new community transmission of COVID-19 as of Monday, said the National Steering Committee.
The country’s patient tally was reported at 372, including 350 recoveries, accounting for 94.1%. Up to 11,256 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas are put under medical surveillance.
