Covid-19 has spread to 55 of 63 cities and provinces in Vietnam
  • The Health Ministry confirmed 328 domestic Covid-19 patients in 11 localities Monday morning, and more than half of them are in HCMC.
  • Since April 27 when the new wave started in Vietnam, 16,782 community infections have been recorded in 55 of the nation’s 63 cities and provinces.

Vietnam adds 328 cases to local Covid tally, the southern metropolis reported 175 patients, including 121 in isolated areas and quarantine zones, and the transmission sources of the remaining 54 are still unknown.

Mekong Delta’s Dong Thap Province reported 100 cases, including 68 in areas that have been put under lockdown and 32 in centralized quarantine camps.

The central Phu Yen Province registered 23 cases, the northern Hung Yen Province got nine and the central province of Khanh Hoa got eight, who have all had contact with previously confirmed Covid-19 patients.

An Giang Province in the Mekong Delta registered six cases, including five having contact with previous cases. The other case had visited the delta’s Tien Giang Province and HCMC before contracting the virus.

Long An Province that borders HCMC recorded two cases linked to previous patients.

The northern Bac Ninh Province got two cases, one linked to a Covid-19 patient and the other has unidentified source of infection.

The northern Lang Son Province recorded one case that is related to a cluster at the Quang Chau Industrial Park in nearby Bac Giang Province.

The case in Dong Nai Province that borders HCMC is related to a cluster at the city’s Binh Dien wholesale market in District 8.

The case in Mekong Delta’s Soc Trang Province is also linked to the Binh Dien market cluster.

Since April 27 when the new wave started in Vietnam, 16,782 community infections have been recorded in 55 of the nation’s 63 cities and provinces.

On Sunday, HCMC surpassed Bac Giang to become the worst-hit locality. The biggest city of Vietnam has in this wave registered 6,209 while cases in Bac Giang’s number is staying at 5,661
