Man in Dong Nai detained for dog theft
A man in the southern province of Dong Nai has been arrested for stealing many dogs.
Pham Chi Hung, 43, from Tan Phu District was caught by the police in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s Cat Tien District in the early morning of Thursday.
Up to 21 dogs was stolen by Hung and several others
The seven-seat car driven by him contained many tools such as electric guns and wires, two cans of petrol and six bags of chilli powder used to attack dogs.
The police expanded the investigation and found two more plastic cages and 21 dogs kept in Nam Ninh Commune in Cat Tien District.
Hung confessed that he and some others who drove motorbikes for dog theft.
In April, the police in the southern province of Binh Duong arrested two local men for using electric guns to steal 14 dogs.
According to the Asia Canine Protection Alliance, roughly five million dogs are killed in Vietnam annually, making the nation the second-biggest dog meat consumer in the world behind China.
