Many schools in the central province of Ha Tinh are in desperate need of support after being severely ravaged by recent floods.
After the flood water receded, all that was left at Tan Lam Huong Nursery School 2 and Tan Lam Huong Primary School 2 in Thach Ha District were school equipment covered by mud. Many tables and chairs have been spoilt after being soaked in water for days.
Tan Lam Huong Nursery School 2 faces severe floods
Tran Thi Hoa Ly, head of Tan Lam Huong Nursery School 2 said lots of things had been swept away by floods, with the remainder ruined by the water. At present, the school yard is still submerged
Ly said that she had never seen such terrible floods. Despite being placed at higher positions than other schools in the area, the school had still been inundated.
The first floor of the school was put under water by up to one metre, all computers, water purifiers and toys had been damaged.
According to Ly, the school had to seek financial support from charity groups and donors for the losses.
Tan Lam Huong Primary School 2 is in the same situation with the first floor being inundated by 1.5 metres. All tables, chairs and other equipment were almost spoiled.

Tran Huy Son, headmaster of Tuong Son Primary School, said that all books and teaching aids have been harmed due to being flooded, causing losses of around VND670 million (USD29131).
Nguyen Thanh Nga, head of Thach Ha District’s Department of Education and Training, said the department had reported the losses to the local authorities.
