This is an activity in response to the appeal of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Central Committee of the Front of the Fatherland of Vietnam and the State Committee in charge of Vietnamese living abroad (Vietnamese Ministry of foreigners) to support flood victims at the Center.
Concretely, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland has collected 6650 Swiss francs (more than 7200 USD) from officials and employees of Vietnamese representative agencies and the Vietnamese community in the European country.
At the same time, the Swiss - Vietnam Friendship Association also collected 6000 Swiss francs to help people in need in the Central provinces.
The amounts will be given to the relevant agencies to help people affected by natural disasters to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
Since October 6 localities in the Center, from Nghe An to Quang Ngai have been continuously affected by major floods. The mountainous regions have suffered from numerous landslides. These are the most serious natural disasters to hit the Center.
More than 260000 families with around 7 million people in six provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Nam have been affected by the floods. Quang Binh, the worst-hit locality, has more than 85860 flooded families, even down to 2-3 m underwater.
As of October 27140 people were dead and missing. Infrastructure works, dikes, dams, hydraulic structures are severely damaged.
