In a working session with Quang Nam leaders on the typhoon response on Wednesday, October 28 Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung stressed the need to search for those missing due to landslides and to provide emergency food and water for disaster victims.
It is necessary to muster forces to respond quickly and effectively to the floods that often follow the typhoon, he added.
Particular attention should be given to repairing critical infrastructure for transportation, health care, education, irrigation and the supply of electricity for daily activities and production.
He stressed the importance of quickly resuming production and helping local residents stabilize their lives.
According to the chairman of the Quang Nam People's Committee, Le Tri Thanh, the locality reported two residents missing due to a landslide in Phuoc Son district. The typhoon also sank two fishing boats in the Duy Xuyen district.
Local authorities called on locals to strictly adhere to typhoon prevention regulations to minimize damage, Thanh said.
