Awards ceremony for the best students of the 2019-2020 school year, on October 28 in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the opening ceremony, Lê Hông Son, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training Department, said that city authorities had approved two very important holistic sector projects out of 51 projects aimed at development of the city.
This is a project on intelligent education and another on training of international quality human resources. It is a pride but also a huge responsibility of the entire education sector in order to meet the demand for high-quality and international quality human resources for the development of the city.
With globalization and 4 ^e industrial revolution, the city's demand for high-quality human resources is enormous. Despite many challenges, the results of teaching and training gifted students in the 2019-2020 school year are very encouraging, with a higher number than the previous one.
International prices
Specifically, in Ho Chi Minh City, a student won a silver medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad. This is Nguyên Mac Nam Trung, a student of the gifted high school (National University of Ho Chi Minh City). The People's Committee decided to reward him by offering him 150 million VND, and awarded his teacher Nguyên Trong Tuân a reward of 80 million VND. In addition, two students won gold, ten silver and six bronze medals in the International Youth Robot Competition.
For the Mathematics Olympics, one student won a silver and ten bronze. Likewise, in the international science and technology competition of the Genius Olympics, Ho Chi Minh City also had three students winning the silver medal and one bronze.
In national competitions for excellent students, Ho Chi Minh City won five 1 ^er price, 282 ^e , 43 ³ , 40 incentive prizes and two thematic prizes for the national competition for students in science and technology. In addition, during the 2019-2020 school year, throughout the city, there were 253534 students obtaining the title of excellent students.
In his remarks, Nguyên Thanh Phong, chairman of the Municipal People's Committee, said that 2019-2020 has been a historic school year with many difficulties caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. Yet 34 students have won prizes at international robotics competitions for young people, the International Mathematics Olympiads, the International Scientific and Technological Engineering Olympics and the Robitics competition.
These are international competitions associated with the STEM education system and in line with the city's orientation on smart education, education associated with science and technology. The winners come not only from prestigious schools, but also from suburban schools. This shows that the education of the city is very homogeneous.
The chairman of the Municipal People's Committee also suggested that the education sector, schools and more generally sectors, units and each family continue to cultivate "excellent germs" today so that they can thrive.
Mr. Phong added that localities must continue to increase their investments, promote the construction of schools with advanced standards, regional and international integration. It will be a solid basis for improving the quality of teaching and learning.
