Three more returnees from Angola test positive for SARS-CoV-2

Three more Vietnamese citizens who recently returned from Angola have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1148 the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday evening.

According to the ministry’s report, the new patients include two men and a woman aged between 35-46 who returned from Angola at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on October 20.



They were sent to a quarantine area in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh Provinces upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus on October 22.



The three patients are now being treated at Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital and Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.



Earlier three other people who boarded the same flight with these patients were also infected with coronavirus.



With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 457.



As of 6 pm on October 22 a total of 1049 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.



The country has gone 50 days without reporting any new case in the community.



At present, 13652 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
