Besides the serious effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, other chronic respiratory diseases are recurrent such as asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). They endanger fragile populations. Thus, COPD is the third leading cause of death in the world.
The "The doctor answers you" initiative is supervised by a Scientific Council, bringing together leading experts in respiratory medicine such as Professor Dinh Xuân Anh Tuân (professor of medicine and respiratory physiology in Paris), Associate Professor-D r Lê Thi Tuyêt Lan (president of the Ho Chi Minh City Asthma - Allergy - Clinical Immunology Association), Associate Professor-D r Trân Van Ngoc (Head of the Respiratory Department at Cho Rây Hospital and President of the Association against Respiratory Diseases of Ho Chi Minh City) or Professors Marc Humbert and Nicolas Roche.
The "The doctor answers you" website, in Vietnamese bac-si-giai-dap.com is in its phase 1. It offers messages of primary importance on chronic respiratory diseases in order to raise public awareness of these diseases, avoid risk factors and facilitate early self-diagnosis in order to obtain treatment more easily and at less cost.
The general questions on asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease have been updated to make information easier for users to access. In addition, Internet users will also be able to ask questions directly on the website and receive answers from the scientific council.
The D r Thomas Mourez, medical cooperation and social development attaché at the French Embassy in Vietnam said: "France wants to promote medical prevention and the fight against non-communicable diseases. This corresponds to the priority areas of the global health strategy between 2017 and 2021. France will continue to support such initiatives in the future" .
In 2021 more features will be released, such as symptom and risk questionnaires, to help patients identify their problems faster on the site. http://bac-si-giai-dap.com . If the site grows successfully in Vietnam, it will take on a multilingual format and deal with respiratory illnesses in neighboring countries like Indonesia and the Philippines.
