With timely assistance from Vietnamese missions in the US, Vietnamese citizens gather at Houston’s internationa airport for the repatriation flight |
Passengers on board the flight came from many states of the US. They included minors under 18 elderly people, people with underlying illnesses, students without accommodations, stranded tourists, and others in extremely disadvantaged circumstances.
The Vietnam Consulate General in Houston sent officers to Houston’s international airport to assist citizens with necessary procedures before they boarded the plane.
Security, safety and hygiene measures were carried out throughout the flight to protect their health and prevent the possible spread of the virus.
Upon landing at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam, those on board received health check-ups and were sent to concentrated quarantine facilities in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
More repatriation flights are set to be conducted in the coming time to bring home Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged circumstances, depending on their need and the nation’s quarantine capacity.
