At the 14th session of the XV last session, the People’s Council of Hai Phong city approved a project to adjust the general planning of Hai Phong city to 2035, with a vision to 2050.
Accordingly, the city will focus on developing the model of “multi-center urban”, including two economic belts (coastal and along national highway 10); three landscape corridors (Cam River, Lach Tray River and Van Australia River); three key urban centers (central urban area, maritime urban area, airport urban area) and new urban center.
Regarding the development orientation of the urban area, the city has a policy of expanding the urban area in five directions: the North (Thuy Nguyen district), the East (Cat Hai district), the South and the Southeast (districts of Hai An and Duong). Kinh, Kien An, Do Son and Kien Thuy districts), the West (An Duong district) and the urban area expected to expand after 2045, with a vision to 2050 (Tien Lang district).
For the internal road system, Hai Phong city has planned a new urban expressway (North-South) connecting the new urban area north of Cam river with Aviation urban area (Tien Lang), East-West trunk road connecting the urban area. – Vinh Bao industry with International Maritime Urban Area (Hai An) and Cat Hai Island, North-South backbone parallel to Highway 10.
Regarding public transport, the city will expand and build new urban railway lines (overhead, underground), express bus lines on the East-West and North-South corridors.
The city’s external transport planning also has a number of notable highlights. Specifically, for the airport, Cat Bi international airport will be upgraded; Tien Lang International Airport will be adjusted to the planning after 2045; At the same time, the city will plan a new taxi airport in the area of Cat Ba and Bach Long Vy.
Regarding the external railway, the city has a policy of planning a new Hanoi – Hai Phong high-speed railway, Nam Dinh – Thai Binh – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway, the railway connecting Yen Vien – Ha Long to the port. Hai Phong international gateway.
