HCMC – The 14th-tenure National Assembly (NA) will seek to endorse important titles of the state apparatus in its final session, NA General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc announced at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee this morning, February 23.

According to Phuc, the 14th-tenure NA’s final session is scheduled to take place at the National Assembly Hall from March 24 to April 7. “The session will focus on reviewing the final reports of the Government, Tribunal President of the Supreme People's Court, President of the Supreme People's Procuracy and the State Audit and deciding on important issues,” Phuc said. Six and a half days among 11 working days of the session will focus on personnel works.

NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien suggested that the final session of the 14th-tenture NA should concentrate on consolidating the state apparatus. Economic issues that are not urgent should be left for the next tenure.

“The NA Chairwoman assigned us with preparing for endorsing important titles of the state apparatus after the National Congress of the Communist Party. Based on experience from previous tenures, personnel works must be done very tensely and intelligently,” said Tong Thi Phong, Vice Chairwoman of the NA Standing Committee.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stressed the need for careful preparation. “The state apparatus operates continuously. Leaders that are elected will assume work immediately. Those who are to leave their posts but are still NA deputies will have to fulfill their duty as NA deputies until the final day in accordance with the regulations,” she said.

In the previous tenure, after the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party, the NA endorsed titles of key leaders of the state apparatus at the end of the tenure and elected the State President, the Prime Minister, some members of the Government, the NA Chairperson and some members of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
