A total of 16 bodies have been recovered as of 11:00 a.m. on October 19 following a landslide that left 22 officers and soldiers from the Defence - Economic Division 337 under Military Zone 4 missing in Huong Phung commune of Huong Hoa district in the central province of Quang Tri.
Seven ambulances head to the scene on the morning of October 19 in order to transport the recovered bodies to Dong Ha city.
The incident originally happened at 1:25 a.m. on October 18 in Cop hamlet, a location where 27 officers and soldiers of the division had been staying as part of efforts to help local residents overcome the consequences of the recent natural disaster. Five individuals were saved in the immediate aftermath of the landslide.
At 9:30 a.m. on October 19 all 16 bodies are taken to a competition hall in Dong Ha city in the central province of Quang Tri in order to prepare them for a memorial service.
The recovery of the bodies marks a great loss for the victim’s families.
Le Van Bang, the brother of soldier Le Huong Tra, travels from Ha Tinh province to Quang Tri province so he can bring his relative to back to his hometown for burial.
