Da Nang field hospital dissolved after completing COVID-19 mission
Authorities of Da Nang, the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, announced on October 2 a plan to dissolve a field hospital set up in Hoa Vang district following the successful completion of its task of combatting the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The last patient is discharged from the Hoa Vang field hospital on September 23.
The Hoa Vang field hospital was originally founded on July 31 with the aim of offering treatment to patients who test positive for the novel coronavirus. Indeed, the site was the first field hospital launched in the central city of Da Nang after the virus resurged in the locality on July 25.
Along with the Da Nang Hospital for Lung Diseases, the Hoa Vang field hospital served as a key treatment destination for positive COVID-19 patients from the city, many of whom were suffering from other underlying health issues such as chronic renal failure, hypertension, diabetes and multi-organ failure.
At the height of the outbreak, the Da Nang Department of Health also ordered local hospitals and healthcare centres to send doctors, nurses, and medical workers to the site. Most notably, doctors from Hanoi’s Bach Mai Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City’s Cho Ray Hospital were also dispatched to support their colleagues at the field hospital.
During its run, the hospital has treated over 250 positive COVID-19 cases simultaneously. The last patient was discharged on September 23.
At present, Da Nang has gone 33 days free of locally transmitted cases.
