HCM City (VNA) – The consumer price index (CPI) in Ho Chi Minh City in September went up by 017 percent in comparison to the previous month, the municipal Statistics Office reported on September 29.
According to the office, the prices of three out of 11 groups of consumer goods and services in the CPI basket witnessed month-on-month decreases, including food and catering services (006 percent), household appliances (027 percent), and culture, entertainment and tourism (028 percent).
Meanwhile, seven groups with higher prices were education (139 percent); beverage and tobacco (021 percent); clothing, hats and footwear (005 percent); housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials (036 percent); transportation (014 percent); post and telecommunication service (082 percent); and other commodities (007 percent).
The prices of medicine and medical services remained unchanged.
In the month, the gold prices fell 074 percent from the previous month, while the USD/VND exchange rate slid 004 percent.
The city’s average CPI in nine months expanded 312 percent as compared to the same time last year./.
