Wood exports reach nearly US$9 billion in nine months
NDO – The export revenue of wood and forestry products is estimated to have reached US$897 billion in the first nine months of 2020 an increase of 12% over the same period last year, according to the Association of Vietnam Timber and Forest Product (Vifores).
Of the total amount, export revenue from wood and wood products was reported at US$838 billion, up 11.2% over the corresponding period in 2019.
The US was Vietnam’s largest wood export market with export revenue of US$419 billion, up 27.4% over the same period in 2019 followed by Japan, China, the EU and the Republic of Korea.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan said that after two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnamese wood exports continue to display positive signals thanks to efforts and creativity of enterprises.
He noted that the Vietnamese wood industry is expected to achieve an export turnover of US$20 billion by 2025.
The wood processing and production industry was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in early this year and the industry has recovered since the pandemic was put under control in July.
Specifically, the export value of wood and forestry products increased again by two digits in August and September.
